Mission
The UNT System Controller leads financial management and accounting activities that provide high quality, efficient, effective, and accurate financial services to all campus constituents. This team provides timely and accurate financial reporting that will withstand audits and provide reliable and meaningful information to both internal and external stakeholders. Controller operations include campus accounting and financial reporting (excluding budget and decision support), financial statement external audit management, payroll operations, tax compliance, and capital asset accounting.

Brittany Wisdom
Brittany Wisdom has enterprise-wide responsibility for the oversight of accounting activities, financial reporting, payroll and tax compliance for the UNT System. Since joining the System in 2016, she has leveraged her expertise in accounting principles and her public audit background to strengthen financial reporting through improved efficiencies and a focus on quality control. Brittany holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).
Leigh-Ann Fashina
Leigh-Ann Fashina is the Controller at the University of North Texas at Dallas, overseeing the accounting and financial reporting functions while providing support to the Chief Financial Officer and collaborating with campus departments to ensure financial accuracy across the university. Prior to her current role, she served as the Budget Director for the campus from 2018 to 2024, where she administered the university’s budget allocation processes, forecasting, and state reporting. Before joining the UNT Dallas Budget Office, Leigh-Ann held various roles in higher education budget and finance, focusing on effective financial management and continuous process improvement. These roles included Finance Manager for the UNT Dallas College of Law and Budget Director for Academic Affairs at East Texas A&M University. Leigh-Ann holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting, both from East Texas A&M University.
Michael Hensley
Michael Hensley serves as Associate Controller for the UNT System Administration, providing leadership over System Administration accounting and financial reporting, UNT System consolidated financial reporting, and the annual consolidated financial statement audit. He brings extensive expertise in accounting and auditing, pension and OPEB reporting, and statewide consolidation and GASB implementations, supporting high-quality, compliant financial reporting across the System. Michael joined the UNT System in 2023 and has more than ten years of combined service with the State of Texas. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Accounting and Audit from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Regena Rodgers
Regena Rodgers is an experienced professional with over 25 years of experience in higher education. Her areas of expertise include payroll, general ledger, capital assets, auditing, and process improvement. Regena is skilled in evaluating processes in order to increase accuracy and efficiency within the available systems. A native of Texas, Regena Rodgers graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting and went on to receive her Masters of Business Administration in 2013. This UNT Alumnus is passionate about motivating, and teaching, and collaborating, and providing the team the tools to be successful.
Rafiu Fashina
Rafiu Fashina is the Controller of the University of North Texas over accounting and financial reporting. He began his higher education career as a Budget Analyst at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2013 and joined UNT System in 2015. He previously served as the Assistant Controller for UNT Dallas before assuming his current position. Rafiu holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Master of Science degree in Accounting, and MBA.
Tonya Woodrow
Tonya Woodrow is the Associate Controller of UNT Health over accounting and financial reporting. She began her career at UNT Health in 2015 as a senior accountant, then moved into the accounting manager role. In 2025 she stepped into her role as the Associate Controller. Tonya has worked most of her career in higher education. Tonya holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Tyler.
