Gregory R. Anderson is the Deputy Chancellor for Finance and Operations for the University of North Texas System. Anderson previously served in this role from February of 2022 until November of 2023, rejoining in August 2025. His duties include oversight of the preparation and development of the System’s biennial legislative appropriations request, annual operating budget and comprehensive annual financial report for the Board of Regents. He previously served as chair of the CFO Council and Shared Services Governing Body.

Prior to coming to the University of North Texas System, Anderson was the Executive Vice President, Finance and Operations of The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (HSC) from June 2016 until July of 2022. He provided expert guidance and counsel to the President on all areas of responsibility ensuring that HSC is on a path to achieve its strategic financial goals.

Mr. Anderson’s accomplishments at the HSC include implementing a more inclusive and transparent budget process, as well as a long-range planning process. Implementing a performance payment program with no increases in tuition during his tenure. The HSC primary reserve strengthened from 38% in 2016 to 98% when he left. Reserves increased over six years from $111 million to $210 million. Finally, quasi-endowments and endowments grew from $28 million in 2016 to over $91 million upon his departure.

Previously, Anderson was Chief Financial Officer of Kalon Biotherapeutics, a startup company he co-founded. Anderson led the financial team of his company in a sale to FujiFilm Diosynth, resulting in a three-fold return on a four-year investment.

Anderson also was the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for The Texas A&M University System where he served for over 27 years. While serving at Texas A&M University, he oversaw system-wide accounting and reporting for financial operations including the budgeting process. Additionally, Mr. Anderson directed tax activities and fiscal functions that directly related to the legislative appropriations process. Finally, he also oversaw purchasing, human resources, risk management, benefits administration, and facilities planning and construction for the system.

He and his wife Janet have five children and fourteen grandchildren ranging from age eight to twenty-one. Greg and Janet reside in Fort Worth.
